Alumni Give Back to National History Day

The first half of 2005 saw a new and increased level of financial support for National History Day from alumni. This new found alumni support has come in various shapes and sizes, but it is all making a big difference in NHD’s ability to reach kids.

In June, NHD alum Bret Engelkemier (’85) and his wife Takane pledged $25,000 to support the program. They made the commitment while in Maryland for the 25th anniversary national contest where they introduced their two young sons to what lies ahead. In May, NHD alum Nicole Lamoureux (’86 and ’91) gave her first gift to NHD with a $1,000 pledge, which she is paying in monthly installments.

In addition to these new levels of support, many are continuing their generosity with $100 and $250 gifts. All of these stories have one thing in common - they are the stories of people who experienced the power of NHD first hand and now want to provide the resources to maximize the number of kids NHD affects.
