• When is National History Day?

Improving Teaching

NHD offers teachers professional opportunities that provide them with the latest in historical scholarship and innovative teaching methods. NHD conducts summer teacher institutes, sponsors workshops and conferences, and publishes curricular materials that focus on upcoming NHD themes and methods for bringing history to life in the classroom.

"National History Day can encompass core curricular content and teaches the process of learning. The program provies an integrated, theme-based skill building model of authentic assement. Many teachers are required to improve student reading in content areas, critical analysis, evaluation of sources, and writing. National History Day helps teacher meet all of these requirements and adapts to student learning styles. National History Day provides a valid and validated means to meet curriculur, student and state standards needs."
